Location

Located in Kassandra, Halkidiki, Afytos (or Athytos) is a charming village situated a mere 80 km from Thessaloniki.

Perched on a hill overlooking the coast, Afytos provides a breathtaking panoramic view of the Toroneos Gulf. The majority of its houses are constructed from stone, reflecting the traditional architectural style of the region. At the heart of the village stands the church of Agios Dimitrios, built in 1859, featuring renowned sculptures by Vassilis Pavlis. Additionally, the central square boasts a folklore museum, hosting diverse exhibitions by various artists.

Boasting archaeological and historical significance, Afytos showcases evidence of settlements dating back to 3000 BC. During the summer, the village transforms from a tranquil haven to a bustling destination, attracting a multitude of tourists. July and August bring forth the Afytos Festival, featuring a series of music and artistic events. On August 15, the Feast of the Virgin Mary is celebrated with traditional Greek music, dance, and delicious food. The sandy beach of Afytos, characterized by crystal-clear blue waters, stretches for a considerable length and is adorned with a variety of beach bars. Situated just 3 km away from the vibrant nightlife of Kallithea, Afytos is also conveniently close to the beautiful beaches of Sani and Nea Fokea.
